Alfred de Breanski Snr was a distinguished landscape painter who became famous for his impressive views of the Welsh and Scottish Highlands. He also painted many views of the Thames area and of the Lakes. Often submerged in a flood of golden light these landscapes usually feature water, cattle and or sheep on grassy banks, with perhaps a few figures. Breanski made his debut at the Royal Academy in 1872 and continued to exhibit there until 1918. His many patrons included the Bishop of Peterborough and Sir James Lemon. His work is represented in both public and private collections and is very much appreciated by collectors today.
