The Yorkshire artist Edwin Henry Holder was born in Scarborough and exhibited his work from 1864 to 1893 at Suffolk street and at the Royal Academy from 1872 to 1873. Primarily a landscape artist, Holder mostly painted scenes from Yorkshire. He travelled widely and in 1917 exhibited a view of Victoria Falls. His works are well represented in National Museum Collections.
